Every coach at CrossFit Lacey is CrossFit certified, bringing real experience in training, athletics, and body mechanics to every class.
Rad and his amazing wife, Whitney, are lifelong movers dedicated to sharing their love of fitness and movement. Rad is a CrossFit L2 and USA Weightlifting L1 trainer with over 20 years of experience racing road and track bikes, with five top-five finishes in National Championship events. Rad has a master’s degree in public health and was an environmental epidemiologist at the State of Washington for 13 years. His immediate family includes two boys and a dog, and he is not above a good dad joke or an ill-advised internet fitness challenge.
DeAndre brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to the Training Day team. Active since youth, he played football and baseball in the Bay Area before joining the Army, serving 32 years and retiring in 2021 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He started CrossFit in 2009, earned his coaching credentials, and joined the CFL staff in 2014. You can also find him judging elite competitions, including the CrossFit Games and Rogue Invitational. He coaches because he wants people to feel empowered by what they can accomplish. Outside the gym: family and learning piano.
Sunny has always had a profound love for sports and enjoys the company of other athletes. She started CrossFit in 2012 and began coaching in 2014. She holds her CrossFit Level 2 Certification, CrossFit Gymnastics Certification, and is a PN1 Certified Nutrition Coach. She believes there is nothing better than seeing the gains of the athletes she coaches. Sunny also offers nutrition coaching — ask any coach for details.
Kimberly grew up thinking sports “weren’t for her” until she tried CrossFit and realized sports are for everybody. In 2017 she was introduced to Olympic Weightlifting and fell in love with the barbell, placing second in her weight class at Washington State’s first Women’s Weightlifting Championship. She earned her USAW L1 in 2018 and her CrossFit L1 in 2020. Kimberly is passionate about sharing her love of weightlifting with athletes of all experience levels.
Izzy is from the Republic of Palau and discovered CrossFit Lacey while attending St. Martin’s University on an academic scholarship. He found his passion in wrestling through middle school and college, and has been a vital part of the Training Day community ever since. Izzy holds his CrossFit L1, USAW, CPR/AED, and CrossFit Adaptive Athlete certifications. Our athletes love his transparency and personable coaching style.
Coach Carriann started CrossFit in 2012 and is a founding member of Training Day. After several years of being an active part of the CrossFit community and participating in local competitions, Carriann decided it was time to take her love for fitness to the next level by attending the CrossFit L1 seminar and becoming a Coach. Carriann does a lot more than coach at Training Day; she also writes the gym programming and leads our Foundations and Functional Strength Programs. She has a special gift of connecting with her athletes and making sure they feel confident and supported.
Outside of the gym, Carriann and her husband Randy (also a founding member) enjoy spending time with their family and friends, traveling, and exploring history at all their travel destinations. Recently Carriann and Randy became grandparents, and find the most joy spending time with their Granddaughter, Daphne.
Ryan has been CrossFitting since 2007 and coaching since 2008. His experience and passion for CrossFit show in his top-notch coaching and programming. Ryan holds his CrossFit Level 1, Level 2, CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Gymnastics, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, Pendlay Olympic Lifting, and CrossFit Advanced Weightlifting certifications. When he isn’t at the gym, he’s spending time with his wife and five children.
Chrystal holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports science and brings a background as a registered nurse, blending clinical knowledge with athletic insight. As a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist, she is especially passionate about supporting women through every season of life. On her off days, she enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, and anything outdoors.
Terry played football, wrestling, and track in high school in Illinois before joining the Army at 21, retiring after 23 years as a First Sergeant. He holds a BA in Exercise Science, the NSCA CSCS certification, a CrossFit Level 1, and USAW Level 1. In his free time, he enjoys trail runs and hikes with his dog and competing in obstacle races and ultra-distance endurance events.
Howard grew up in Eastern Washington with a lifelong passion for the outdoors and running. He jumped into CrossFit in 2010 and earned his CF L1 in 2023. He now coaches our Lacey Legends masters athletes several times a week, and also holds a Training the Aging Athlete certificate and has judged several CrossFit Opens.
Brad began CrossFit in 2011 and has had the pleasure of visiting gyms all over the US and the Philippines during his travels. He started at Training Day in 2017 and began coaching in 2025 as a way to give back to the community that has given him and his family so much. Brad’s daily coaching goal is to make sure everyone walks out of the gym feeling great — we are a community, and we improve our fitness together, every day.
Kat was born and raised in New Zealand, where she played netball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. She fell in love with CrossFit in Colorado, and her transition from athlete to coach happened in Arizona. She holds her CrossFit Level 1 and is new to the Lacey community — grateful for the chance to coach and grow alongside such a dedicated group of athletes.
Andre’a has been an athlete her whole life, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track through high school. She was introduced to CrossFit in 2013 while serving in the U.S. Army stationed in South Korea, and later earned her CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification. She’s a proud mom of three who can usually be found cheering from the sidelines when she’s not coaching.
Coach Melissa gave CrossFit a try in 2012 and quickly realized she wasn’t as fit as she thought she was, but it was easy for her to fall in love with CrossFit as it combines all aspects of fitness with community. After 12 years of owning and operating a gym and competing in the sport of CrossFit, Melissa now enjoys being an active member of the Training Day community, training sport-specific athletes, and sub-coaching. Outside of the gym, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, chasing the sunshine, and being outdoors.
Ronnie has been passionate about fitness since his youth, where he excelled in sports and played high school, college, and semi-pro football. After serving in the Marine Corps, Ronnie worked as a personal trainer while he pursued a career as a firefighter, and has been a Firefighter/Paramedic for Central Pierce Fire Department since 2010. Ronnie strives to help people transform their overall health and discover their athletic potential, as well as help young athletes prepare for college, professional sports, and civil service careers. Ronnie has completed the CrossFit L2, CrossFit Football, CrossFit Kids, USA Weightlifting, and Kabuki Strength certifications. Ronnie and his family enjoy spending time outdoors enjoying all the Northwest has to offer.
